RACHEL QUALIFIES FOR 2008 TOUR CARD

Congratulations must go to Rachel Bell who is now the hottest property in English women's golf after finishing in 14th place at the Ladies' European Tour Qualifying School in Italy, earning her 2008 tour card.

25 year old Rachel who plays out of Ganton Golf Club made the cut in this year's Ricoh British Open finishing in 50th place. She was also leading amateur in the Welsh Open and made the quarter Finals in the British Championship at Alwoodley. She has been a keen team player in the Yorkshire squad helping us to win the English Championship for the fourth year in succession.

It would be understandable had Rachel never wanted to set foot on a golf course. She was just a baby when her mum Kath was struck by lightning on the 12th hole at Northcliffe Golf Club and killed. Rachel said:

"Some people might say it is a bit of an odd thing for me to want to play golf after what happened. But she loved golf and had she still been alive, she would have been playing and encouraging me to take it up."

Part of Rachel's inspiration now is the memory of her mum and she said:

"The first golf trophy I ever won was a memorial trophy in her name and I don't suppose many people can say that."

Hookers Golf Pro is delighted to offer Rachel the opportunity to raise funds by processing sponsorship transactions through their website.  Every penny will go straight to Rachel.  Just visit the home page at Hookers Golf Ltd.
